205 Days To Go!

Our Story

The Pandemic Brought One Good Thing

Our story begins in the midst of the chaos that was 2020. Aaron was working from home, and with operations having slowed, he had more time to dedicate to his passion: music. Jenny was juggling going to grad school full-time and holding down a full-time internship at her dream agency.

Jenny became close friends with her upstairs neighbor — who else were you going to socialize with during a pandemic? Jenny ended up planning a get-together for her birthday and had heard countless stories of one of the girls' close friends, Aaron. Jenny invited him.

They met for the first time at that birthday party at a now non-existent bar on Rainey Street in Austin and hit it off. The next weekend was Aaron's birthday, and Jenny attended his celebration. The following day, they kept the festivities going and met at another bar, again on Rainey with a couple of friends, and slipped into conversation with shocking ease.

However, it wasn't love then, or even — arguably — interest. They kept meeting up with their friends together, and got to know one another bit by bit — in the way that you get to know any other friend.

Jenny went with a group of her friends on a last-minute trip to Colorado, and Aaron decided to join. That was likely the second best decision he's ever made. ;) Aaron and Jenny spent those three days in the mountains talking, laughing, bantering — nonstop. This continued deep into the night, and then they woke up early, excited to continue the jokes and laughter. It was like the other ten people on the trip did not exist. That was where Aaron made it clear he was interested.

Fast forward to the winter of 2021 — for months, Aaron had been relentless in pursuing Jenny, but she (unintentionally) played hard to get. She had warmed to him though, and felt she was ready to embark on a relationship with the man that had quickly become her best friend. She finally said yes to being his girlfriend on February 12, 2021, on a brutally cold evening in Dallas.

They've continued their laughter and banter, just as it was in Colorado, but with so much love added to the mix. They've had several adventures, made friends and lost some. They've supported one another through some difficult times, and forged an unbreakable bond built on a strong foundation established in those initial months of friendship.

In July of 2024, Jenny and Aaron went on their annual vacation with their friends Carl and Sara — this time to the Bahamas. Jenny had a non-negotiable activity for the trip: she had to go snorkeling. Sara and Jenny had another: the infamous swimming pigs must be met. So they made it happen. Aaron and Carl booked an excursion to a remote island, where Jenny could get her snorkeling in, and the group could see what the swimming pigs were all about.

They did snorkeling first. As they were led on a tour where they saw spiny lobsters, a giant manta ray, and countless fish of all colors under the sun, Jenny and Aaron were having the time of their lives. But all good things must come to an end, and the snorkeling expedition was no exception.

They started a reluctant return to the shore, with Jenny leading the way and Aaron close behind, Sara and Carl lagging slightly. Aaron tapped Jenny to get her attention, and she turned to see what he wanted. "Look at the water," he said. Jenny nodded enthusiastically, still filled with wonder at all she was seeing.

"It's gorgeous!" she replied.

"No — look IN the water," Aaron clarified. Jenny, goggles still on, dipped her head back into the ocean to see what amazing aquatic life she thought Aaron must be trying to show her.

"Marry Me?" was the sign she read in his hands, underneath the water and surrounded by all the bright, teeming life just below the surface.

Jenny lifted her head right back out of the water to stare at Aaron through her goggles. "Are you serious???" she asked, barely breathing.

"...yes," Aaron replied, waiting. Jenny laughed, and hugged and kissed him. She was overwhelmed by the moment, and finding it hard to believe that an already amazing day had gotten immeasurably better. "So… Is that a yes?" Aaron asked tentatively.

"Imagine if I said no," Jenny said, still laughing.

"I am." Aaron replied.

"YES!" Jenny practically screamed.

In the near distance, they heard, "What's happening?" from someone else on the snorkeling expedition.

"THEY JUST GOT ENGAGED!!!" Sara screamed.

And here we are. Getting married. Excited to celebrate what marks the beginning of these next chapters in the rest of our lives together with you all.
